Still sending your sysadmins to generic IT courses?

There's a reason half the people in those rooms are on their phones by lunch. The material doesn't match their Tuesday. Meridian builds courses around specific industries — because a hospital's infrastructure problems look nothing like a logistics firm's.

Courses built for your sector

We don't teach abstract infrastructure theory. Every programme is shaped around the compliance, uptime, and security demands of a specific industry.

Healthcare & NHS Trusts

Patient data regulations, clinical system availability, and the peculiar chaos of a network that supports both MRI machines and ward tablets on the same VLAN. We've trained sysadmins at four NHS trusts. The curriculum covers DSPT compliance, medical device segmentation, and incident response protocols that account for the fact you can't just "take the server offline" when a theatre is mid-procedure.

Financial Services

FCA-regulated environments where every access event gets logged and every patch window feels like defusing a bomb. Our courses cover audit trail management, change control processes, and how to maintain separation of duties when your entire IT team is five people.

Most popular with mid-sized brokerages and building societies.

Education & Multi-Academy Trusts

Safeguarding filters, BYOD nightmares, and 600 students all resetting their passwords on the same Monday. We built this track after spending three months embedded with a MAT's central IT team in the West Midlands. It's practical stuff — content filtering policies, identity management for temporary staff, and keeping the network alive during exam season.

Manufacturing & Logistics

OT/IT convergence. Legacy SCADA systems that no one wants to touch. Warehouse management platforms that crash when you look at them wrong. This track is less glamorous than the others, but frankly it's where the biggest skill gaps live.

Legal & Professional Services

Client confidentiality requirements, document management systems, and partners who still forward sensitive emails as unencrypted attachments. We cover data classification workflows, privilege escalation controls, and how to enforce policies without making the solicitors mutiny.

We don't cover every industry. Retail and hospitality aren't in our wheelhouse — yet. If your sector isn't listed, ask. We might be building it.

How we got here

A short version, because nobody reads the long one.

Meridian started in 2015 when our founder — a sysadmin who'd spent twelve years in NHS infrastructure — kept getting sent to training courses that had nothing to do with healthcare IT. The labs were always about generic corporate setups. The case studies were always about Silicon Valley startups. None of it mapped to the problems she was solving on a Monday morning in Salford.

So she built a course that did. First for healthcare. Then financial services, when a building society in Leeds asked if we could adapt the material. Then education, manufacturing, legal. Today there are nine of us. We're still based in Manchester. We still won't teach a topic unless at least one instructor has worked in that sector professionally.

That last bit matters more than it sounds. It's the difference between someone who's read about DSPT compliance and someone who's been audited for it. We only hire the second kind.

What people actually said

Unedited. Well — we fixed the typos.

"We'd tried two other training providers before Meridian. Both taught us things we already knew. This lot asked what was actually breaking in our environment first, then built the coursework around that. Novel concept, apparently."

Laura Whitfield

Infrastructure Lead, Pennine Secure Storage

"The healthcare module was worth it for the DSPT session alone. We passed our audit two months later. First time without findings."

Dr Rajan Mehta

CIO, Thornfield Medical Group

"Honestly, I was sceptical. Another training course, another binder that gathers dust. But the labs were actually good — they gave us a broken domain controller and 90 minutes to sort it out. Two of my team stayed late voluntarily. That never happens."

Kevin Olusegun

IT Manager, Bridgewater Academy Trust

"Quick, focused, no waffle."

Sarah Greenhalgh

Systems Engineer, Halcroft Chambers LLP

"The financial services track helped us fix a change management process that had been held together with hope and a shared spreadsheet for three years. Setup took longer than they promised — more like a week than two days — but the end result was solid."

Priya Anand

Compliance Officer, Northgate Building Society

"I sent my two most junior engineers. They came back and reconfigured our backup schedule themselves. Saved me about a week of hand-holding."

Dominic Farrell

Head of IT, Mersey Freight Services

"The best training we've done in five years. And I say that as someone who's sat through a lot of training."

Questions we hear a lot

And a few we wish people would ask more often.

How much does it cost?
Depends on the programme and team size. Individual enrolments start at £950 + VAT for a four-week track. Corporate packages for groups of five or more get volume pricing — we'll quote it out after a quick call. No hidden fees. We don't do surprise invoices.
Is it all online?
Mostly. Labs and instructor sessions run over video. For corporate clients with 10+ seats, we can come on-site anywhere in the UK — travel's included in the quote. Some teams prefer a mix: two days on-site to kick things off, then remote labs for the rest.
What if my sector isn't listed?
Ask anyway. We're actively developing tracks for energy and utilities and for the charity sector. If we can't help, we'll say so and point you somewhere that can.
Do you offer CPD points?
Yes. All our programmes are CPD-accredited. You'll receive a certificate with hours logged at the end of each completed track. Useful for appraisals and HR records — and for convincing your employer the budget was well spent.
Can my employer pay by invoice?
Yes. NET 30 terms for UK corporate clients. We can issue a proforma invoice or accept a purchase order number. Most L&D teams have it approved within a fortnight.
What's the cancellation policy?
Full refund within 14 days of enrolment if you haven't started the labs. After that, no refunds — but you can transfer your place to a colleague at no extra charge. Fair?

Free webinar: Patch management in regulated environments

22 November 2026 · 14:00 GMT · 45 minutes + Q&A

We'll walk through how three regulated organisations — a trust, a brokerage, and a legal firm — handle their patch cycles differently, and where most teams get it wrong. No pitch. Just the session.
